All of the variants:

    screen-parameters wn:root=yes
    screen-parameters wn:followFocus=no

    screen-parameters wn:root=no
    screen-parameters wn:followFocus=yes

    screen-parameters wn:root=no
    screen-parameters wn:followFocus=no

    screen-parameters wn:root=yes
    screen-parameters wn:followFocus=yes
made no difference. I believe that BRLTTy is active, howver the display 
does not refresh.
