/dev/bus/usb/.../...: Permission denied when I enter the command $ brltty -V

Hello Dave,

A capitalised V worked. I am running version 6.4. I think that is an older
version so I will look to update tomorrow.

Usually, I only work on the command line. Usually in Arch rather than
Ubuntu. But I need to use a couple of GUI apps for a specific project. Hence
my teething problems.

I think you may have a good point about Orca using a different LibLouis that
is causing the problem. I'll investigate further and go down that road if
the update doesn't resolve my issue.

I have uncommented both en-ueb-g2 and en-nabcc in the /etc/brltty.conf and
I've also checked the contraction table and selected en-ueb.g2 in Orca
Preferences.

I do appreciate your advice. I will update after updating to the latest
version of brltty.

Many thanks, Paul

Use an uppercase -V, or --version for the long form.

Brltty wouldn't introduce such a bug just because you're using the GUI. I
myself don't use the GUI so I'm guessing - it may be that Orca is using
LibLouis, rather than brltty, to render contracted braille.

You mentioned randeomness. Is it possible that it's working when you're in a
console window but not working when you're in a non-console window?
