[BRLTTY] [OT] GUI applications not working when on text console

Hello,
Starting in the last two years or so, I have been seeing applications
become unresponsive when I am not in X. A typical example is the spotify
client. If I set music playing and then switch to a TTY, playback will
eventually stop, usually when a new track would start. Furthermore,
trying to talk to the client via D-BUS from the console will block until
I switch back to X. All of this used to work fine until circa 2021. I
assume this is linked to some kind of security policy but I'm not sure
where to start. Has anybody any suggestions?
