That makes sense now. Thanks for the explanation, it's very much
appreciated. I will give it a shot tomorrow.

If it doesn't, I will do a clean install of Ubuntu 23.04 again just in case
something got corrupted the first go round. I've never had this problem
before.

Hi Paul,
You can get the sources of brltty on the website, brltty.app It is a tarball
the name of the file ends in tar.gz, hope you are familiar with that.
In it you can find the directory Tables/Input, what you can try is copy the
contents of that directory into /etc/brltty/Input  on your problem machine.
Then restart brltty and see what happens.
