Thanks for the suggest Adrian, all lines are commented out. But I still
can't get the braille display to input or use it for navigation. Currently
running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS so I can't test the Brailliant BI 40X. It's the
only issue I am experiencing I can't see it being a hardware issue, and all
the drivers have been installed. No issues with any other peripheral

have ALL lines in /etc/brltty.conf commented out.
I have the Alva and the FS drivers compiled in and this configuration
brltty is self determining which driver to load.
So my suggestion: since your version has probably all drivers compiled in
let brltty self determine what to do.
So comment out all lines in /etc/brltty.conf and I mean ALL!!!
It's worth a try it works here.
