And I appreciate that very much as I don't know Windows very well. Thanks to your observations, I'm about to commit a new set of .bat scripts which reference the correct blrty.conf file.

A log for that would be helpful. You can use the debug-brltty.bat script for that.

Thanks. It shows what I was expecting. While there indeed was a problem with the BrlAPI service starting in 6.3 and 6.4, that's been fixed in 6.5. Your log confirms this as it shows that brltty remains running.

You mentioned a registry change to set the service's options. Could you explain to me how you changed the registry, i.e. the key, the old value, and the new value? Perhaps, for example, I can get the enable-brlapi script to do what you did, i.e. give the service a log file that can be easily viewed.
